A minimalistic poster based on Doctor Who Series 1 Episode 1: Rose.
This includes the image of the London Eye transmitting the signal from the Nestene Consciousness, the title of the episode and the quote "Run!" that started off Rose's adventures and relationship with the Doctor, all set on a background that's a similar colour to the jackets she wore in the episode.
I intend to do one for every episode in series 1 to 4 (and maybe the specials too.) And if they are well received I'd love to do Torchwood (series 1 & 2) and The Sarah Jane Adventures too.
I love it! Absolutely gorgeous, and the "Run!" makes my heart pound dangerously fast: a promise of adventure, that one. I'd love to see the other episodes as well, and Torchwood, too!
Thank you! This comment made me so stupidly happy! I am SO glad you like it and it certainly seems like people do like it, so provided I can come up with ideas I will do the other episodes (at least the first series for now depending on how long it takes me) and would love to do Torchwood ones as well, I don't think I've seen any Torchwood ones done before. I love that you liked my choice of quote and seriously this comment is just wonderful, thank you so much!
You're quite welcome I'm a huge TW fan, and I've never seen these sort of posters for it, either. So you'd be a pioneer of a sort, the first ever to do something amazing like that. Very much like the Doc
What did you think of Children of Earth and Miracle Day then? I absolutely adored it and then RTD changed the format and killed off my favourite character all at once and it left me cold. At least COE I sort of liked (I loved it up until Ianto's death) but Miracle Day I found far too long and stretched out with quite a few plot holes.
But did you seriously just compare me to the Doctor?! I am so unlike him it's ridiculous.
I love CoE. Just love it: it's sad as hell and makes me feel sick and disgusted, but it's just amazing. The emotional depth and the action sequences, the horrifying political dialogue and the fantastic soundtrack: ice cold, hard as stone, dark and beautiful. All brilliant. Ianto's my favourite, but I believe in 'kill your darlings'. Plus, since I discovered the series only last year, I already knew what was going to happen. Saw he's picture on SFX magazines 'top 100 scifi icons'-listing, fell in love and started to watch Torchwood, and after that, Doctor Who. My favourites always die, it's a law of nature I tried to watch Miracle Day, but never got past episode 2. It just felt wrong, in some way: too many explosions? No aliens? Nah, not for me.
Yes, I guess I did. Maybe the 12th regeneration makes posters?
I've only ever seen COE once. But I don't think 'kill your darlings' is really a good idea when it comes to lasting series, especially not to the point where there's only two members of the main cast left, let alone so soon after killing both Owen and Tosh. I'm not saying they shouldn't make you care about the characters they kill but there's a difference between that and destroying the entire basis of the show to then have the Americans take over and remove the whole alien aspect of it.
Even if he did that wouldn't make me like the Doctor, I am about as far from being like the Doctor as you can get. Believe me.
This is so cool! You're gonna do a whole series, too? Awesome! I can't wait to see more! Very well done, I love the composition and simplicity. Not rveryone would have thought of the Eye for Rose, but it's instantly recognizable. Kudos!
I hope to do a whole series anyway, provided people like them. Ideally I'd like to earn a little bit from them too but that can't be guaranteed.
Thank you! I loved the image of the Eye and the signal coming from it and I've been wanting to work that into something for ages. I thought it would be a good image to use because there's not really anything else at all iconic from the episode that would work well with just one or two colours - I mean them holding hands from that "Run!" moment wouldn't look right I don't think. And I couldn't think of an effective way to include the Autons themselves. Plus we do have a whole exchange between the Doctor and Rose in front of the eye, I think it is generally remembered as a big part of the episode.
